Case Studies
Broadcom
Celestica partnered with Broadcom in 2022 to design a mock-up of a 1 RU CPO-based network switch using their 51.2 Tbps Bailly CPO module. The platform would enable potential customers to see the advantages of this configuration over one with traditional pluggable optics, including a smaller footprint (1RU vs 2-3 RU), lower overall power dissipation and simplified board design. The demo was successfully showcased at the 2022 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit, demonstrating Celestica’s skills in system design and fiber management.
Marvell
In 2021, Celestica partnered with Marvell to design a Near Packaged Optics (NPO) network switch to demonstrate the combined performance of their silicon photonics and high-bandwidth switching technologies. Eight of Marvell’s highly integrated Optical Engines (OEs) were mounted on a mezzanine card around their 12.8Tbps Teralynx 7 switch ASIC. Celestica designed the entire system and manufactured both the OEs and final system. Marvell demonstrated the system running live traffic at the 2022 Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference.
